BHOPAL: When universities and colleges in the state will start academic session for 2013-14 from Monday, Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University(MPBOU) is preparing for academic session of 2012-13. The university has not stopped at it, but issued advertisements for under-graduate and post-graduate courses. Strange though it may look, the last date to submit forms is July 31, 2013.

When contacted, university vice-chancellor Tariq Zafar admitted delay in academic session for both UG and PG courses, said it was delayed by 4-5 months. We would streamline the session soon."

Official website of Bhoj University www.bhojvirtualuniversity.com clearly mentioned advertisements for admission of 2012-13 in both UG and PG courses. Despite that Zafar maintained that the academic session is delayed by 4-5 months.

Zafar claimed that the session was delayed even before he was appointed the vice-chancellor. "I do not want to look back. I am trying my level best to bring the academic session on track." He was appointed vice-chancellor after Professor SS Singh demitted the office of VC in January this year.

Asked steps he would take to get the delayed session back on the rails, he vaguely replied, "We would organize exams without any delay. Other steps would be taken to streamline the academic session."

Students, however, are confused and at the receiving end with no clue where it will all end. "I wanted to pursue PG course from Bhoj University. I was shocked when I surfed the official website that they have invited applications for 2012-13. It would be embarrassing for me to tell anyone that I am doing my degree for 2012-13 academic session, when students in other universities would pursue studies for 2013-14 session," said Prashant Saxena.

Many students still await results of exams conducted by the university last year. "I had to apply for job in a company. The university was scheduled to announce results last year. I am still waiting. I had to miss the opportunity," said Kranti Sharma, who did his PG last session.
